INSTALLATION OF LINUX

 

 

AIM: INSTALLATION OF LINUX (FEDORA)
REQUIREMENTS:
CPU  433mhz    or higher                          
Hard disk 6GB or higher
Ram 128MB or higher
Mother Board Pentium class
VGA Monitor
Key Board
Mouse
CD ROM
Bootable Linux CD’s

PROCESURE:-

  • First insert the bootable Linux CD1 in the CD Drive and reboot the computer after reboot the system Press Del key or F2 enter the comes setup Enable the First Boot device as CD ROM then save and exit setup system is rebooted
  • Now system is booting with CD ROM it show the first screen installation of LINUX (Fedora, Red Hat).
  • To install or upgrade in graphical mode or text mode press ENTER key, Press Enter,
  • Now inspecting the all hard ware components probing as compatible your system hard ware
  • After that you should see a screen as appear that allows you CD founds screen to check the CD for errors in this screen select the skip press enter
  • After that now showing the graphical installer screen comes Welcome to Fedora or Red hat select the next button
  • Then appear the language selection screen you first choice to select the language used during the install process, select the English press Next button
  • Next step will appear the key board configuration select the US English press Next
  • In the Next step you have to select the mouse type configuration, it is automatically probed to select the Next button
  • After that we have to select the which type of installation as shown as

                Personal desktop
                Workstation
                 Server
                Custom
             It is your choice as per requirement Click Next
  • Then appears the type of partitions screen

                  Automatically partition
                  Manually partition with disk druid
           Here select the manually partition (If you are installing the duel operating system)
  • Then appear the partition table here shows the all partitions on your hard disk, Linux partition is different with DOS partitions

                 You have to create new partitions with boot, swap, and root
                 To create the partition select the free space press new button will appear the two boxes these are
             Mount Point
            File System type
         First select the Mount Point Enter the size 6GB or Higher
        Then select the boot 100MB
        Then select the File System type Size depends on your system memory (double size of RAM. Your RAM is 128MB Swap size is 256 MB).
     Press Next button
  • now appear the GRUB loader section here appears the

          
           
           It is a selection of default boot option
          Press Next
  • Now appear the network configuration settings

                    Select the automatically via DHCP Press Next
  • Then appears the firewall session screen

                 Here show the options are
                        www.(HTTP)
                         FTP
                        SSH
                        TELNET
                         MAIL (SNTP)
            Select these all Press Next button
  • Then appears the additional language option select any one Press Next
  • Then appears the time zone selection

             Choose the ASIA CUL
  • Next screen shows the root password screen, it is a admin password you have to remember this password

           Here Enter the password minimum SIX characters
  • Next screen will appear the type of packages installation screen
    • Install default packages
    • Customize soft ware packages to be install

         Select as require installation
           Press Next
  • Next screen will appear CD’s confirmation screen

         Press continue
  • Next formatting the file system
  • After format is complete the install image will be copied to the hard drive, will prepare to install transpiring install image to hard drive
  • Next screen appear prepare to install
  • Now installing the LINUX asking one by one CD’s  
  • After the install is finished LINUX do some post install configuration then will be asked to reboot the system

      The system will reboot select LINUX
  • After selecting the LINUX Press Enter to continue
  • Now all hard ware as probing as compatible with LINUX
  • On the first boot will be come install configuration setup show the Welcome screen Press Next
  • Then show the License agreement screen click option yes click Next
  • Then show the Date and Time settings click Next
  • Then appear the use account screen


                             User name

                            Full name

                            Password

                          Confirm password

            Enter these all blocks Press Next
  • Next appears the sound card testing

              Click Next
  • Next appears additional CD’s installation screen click next
  • Next screen appears finish setup

             Press Next
  • After these you have a login screen Enter the user name Press Enter
  • Enter the password Press Enter now you should be looking at the GNOME LINUX DESK TOP
